ANGOLA, Ind. (WLKI)- Trine University honored two graduates during its annual Touchstone and Homecoming Celebration Dinner on Friday, Oct. 2.
The dinner was held at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Inc. Athletic and Recreation Center.
Kody Kumfer, a 2012 graduate in accounting and business management, received the Distinguished Service Alumni Award. The award recognizes a graduate who has provided outstanding service through a profession, personal achievement or community involvement.
After graduating from Trine, Kumfer pursued a banking career before moving into agribusiness banking. In 2021, he joined Forgotten Children Worldwide as associate executive director after serving on the organization's board beginning in 2018.
He became the nonprofit organization's chief executive officer and executive director on Jan. 1. Forgotten Children Worldwide works to protect and empower vulnerable children through sponsorship, clothing distribution, self-sustaining initiatives and other projects.
Kumfer also serves on several Wells County organizations and was named Wells County Citizen of the Year in 2022.
Clare Moricz received the Outstanding Young Alumna Award. Moricz earned a communication and English degree from Trine in 2019 and a Master of Business Administration in 2021.
Moricz served Trine for more than five years, including as director of student leadership and director of alumni relations. She now works as assistant director of research and donor relations at Marian University in Indianapolis.
According to Trine University, the Outstanding Young Alumna award recognizes an accomplished professional and role model age 40 or younger.
