ANGOLA, Ind. (WLKI)- Trine University's Franks School of Education has continued a 15-year streak of full placement for graduates seeking careers in education.
The university announced Wednesday that every Class of 2026 graduate with a teaching degree who sought a teaching position was employed by the start of the school year or was continuing their education in graduate school.
The Franks School of Education graduated 43 students with teaching degrees in the Class of 2026, marking a record number of graduates seeking teaching jobs.
Alecia Pfefferkorn, dean of the Franks School of Education, said the placement rate reflects both the preparation students receive and the quality of the program's curriculum.
"Graduates from Trine University's Franks School of Education are prepared to immediately make an impact in the classroom by gaining exposure to the latest technology and teaching strategies and completing hundreds of observation and teaching hours in the process of earning their degree," Pfefferkorn said.
She said all graduates seeking teaching positions were employed by the beginning of the school year, even with the larger number of job seekers in the graduating class.
Class of 2026 graduates are now teaching throughout Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, as well as in Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.
Northeast Indiana schools employing Trine teaching graduates include DeKalb Middle School, Franke Park Elementary School, Fremont Middle School, Hendry Park Elementary School, Huntington North Middle School, Lakeland Intermediate School, McKenney Harrison Elementary School, Prairie Heights Middle School, Prairie Heights High School and J.R. Watson Elementary School.
Two members of the Class of 2026 are attending graduate school. One of those graduates is also coaching collegiate volleyball.
According to Trine University, the Franks School of Education has achieved 100 percent placement among teaching-degree graduates who sought jobs or continued their education for 15 consecutive years.
