AUBURN, Ind. (WLKI)- No injuries were reported after an early-morning fire damaged two homes and three vehicles in Auburn Wednesday.
Auburn firefighters were dispatched at 12:38 a.m. to the 1000 block of Donald Street. Fire Chief Doug Cox said crews arrived about three minutes later and found heavy fire conditions coming from a porch area.
Firefighters deployed hose lines to extinguish the exterior fire before checking the inside of the home for signs the fire had spread. Cox said crews searched the residence and found no extension into the interior.
Three vehicles were damaged in the fire, and a neighboring home sustained heat damage.
The fire was declared under control at 1:04 a.m. Firefighters remained at the scene until shortly after 3 a.m. to check for hot spots and assist the homeowners.
The Auburn Fire Department was assisted by the Garrett and Butler fire departments, Auburn Police Department, Parkview EMS, Auburn Electric, NIPSCO and DeKalb County Central Communications.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the Indiana State Fire Marshal.
