HILLSDALE (WLKI) - Hillsdale County Sheriff Scott Hodshire is facing two felony charges following an investigation by the Michigan State Police.

Hillsdale County District Court records show the 59-year-old Hodshire has been charged with misconduct in office and obstruction of justice. The charges are connected to an alleged incident on February 18.

Court documents show Michigan State Police Detective Sergeant Travis Pohl filed a petition in the case, and a warrant was issued August 19.

Hodshire was released Monday after posting a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. A personal recognizance bond allows a defendant to be released based on a promise to appear for future court proceedings.

Few details about the allegations have been released.

Hodshire was first elected Hillsdale County sheriff in 2020 and won reelection in 2024.

The charges are allegations, and Hodshire is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
