(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana lawmakers are serving up some state pride with a new bill that would officially declare the breaded tenderloin sandwich as Indiana's state sandwich. State Senator Andy Zay of Huntington introduced the proposal, which had its first reading this week. The bill would carve out a new chapter in state law honoring the oversized, beloved pork tenderloin made from Indiana-raised hogs. If approved, the tasty title would take effect July 1, 2026 -- giving Hoosiers plenty of time to celebrate with a sandwich the size of a steering wheel.
