(INDIANAPOLIS) - Five Northeast Indiana communities and counties will receive more than $3.1 million in state matching grants for local road and bridge work.

The awards include:

  • Fremont: $999,795
  • Noble County: $1 million
  • Ligonier: $636,705
  • St. Joe: $456,452
  • Rome City: $74,160

The money comes through Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program and can be used for road repairs, bridge maintenance, intersection improvements and other infrastructure projects.

Smaller municipalities must provide a 20 percent local match. Larger communities are required to contribute 50 percent.

This funding round awarded $84 million to 147 cities, towns and counties statewide.

Indiana has awarded just over $165 million through the program during fiscal year 2026. The next application period is expected to open in September.
