(INDIANAPOLIS) - Race driver Katherine Legge is preparing to attempt one of motorsports' toughest challenges later this month.

Legge plans to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24, becoming the first woman to attempt completing 1,100 miles of racing on the same day.

Speaking during Indianapolis 500 practice Wednesday, Legge said she immediately embraced the opportunity.

She also acknowledged the challenge of moving between two race sites in one day, describing the travel and timing demands as a minute-by-minute operation involving helicopters, flights and rapid transportation between events.

Legge joked that her biggest concern may not be racing logistics, but finding time to eat during a day expected to keep her in race cars for several hours.

Only six drivers have previously attempted the Indianapolis-Charlotte double, beginning with John Andretti in 1994. Others who have attempted it include Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch and Kyle Larson.
