(LAGRANGE COUNTY) - The Indiana State Board of Animal Health has confirmed another case of bird flu in LaGrange County -- the 53rd detection of the year.

This latest case involves a commercial flock of more than 37,000 egg-laying chickens. Officials say the flock is now under quarantine, with a 10-kilometer control area and a 20-kilometer surveillance zone in effect across parts of Elkhart, LaGrange, and Noble counties.

State officials continue urging poultry owners to ramp up biosecurity to help stop the spread. For statewide updates and prevention tips, visit the Indiana Board of Animal Health's HPAI case dashboard.
