(FORT WAYNE) - Honor Flight Northeast Indiana's 55th trip to Washington is taking veterans from the region to the nation's capital today. The nonprofit says 85 veterans are part of Flight 55.
The group includes veterans who served in the Korean War, Cold War and Vietnam War, along with a small number who served in other conflicts. Two of the veterans on the trip are Bronze Star recipients.
Honor Flight Northeast Indiana says the veterans will visit memorials built to honor their service and sacrifice.
A public welcome home celebration is planned tonight at Fort Wayne International Airport, with organizers asking supporters to arrive around 8:30 p.m.
