(PUTNAM COUNTY) - An Indiana State Police traffic stop on Interstate 70 led to the seizure of nearly 400 pounds of suspected cocaine.

Police say a criminal interdiction trooper stopped a commercial motor vehicle traveling eastbound near the 37 mile marker, near Cloverdale, for speeding.

During the stop, troopers identified what they described as multiple criminal indicators. A search of the tractor-trailer was requested and granted.

Inside the trailer, troopers found duffle bags and cardboard boxes containing about 392 pounds of suspected cocaine. Police estimate the street value at approximately $9 million.

The driver, 27-year-old Harmandeep Singh of Bakersfield, California, was taken into custody and booked into the Putnam County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond.

He has been preliminarily charged with dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony, and possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 3 felony. Final charges will be determined by the Putnam County Prosecutor.
