(ANGOLA) - Retired Steuben County Sheriff Tim Troyer has publicly endorsed Chief Deputy Mike Meeks in the race for Steuben County sheriff.

In a written endorsement released this week, Troyer said Meeks demonstrated strong leadership, integrity and a commitment to public safety during Troyer's time leading the sheriff's office from 2011 through 2018.

Troyer said he promoted Meeks first to Detective Sergeant and later to Detective First Sergeant, where he supervised investigations before later moving into his current role as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Rodney Robinson.

The retired sheriff praised Meeks' experience in investigations, staff development and day-to-day law enforcement leadership, while also emphasizing what he described as Meeks' focus on constitutional protections and accountability to county residents.

Troyer called Meeks "the best choice" to become Steuben County's next sheriff and urged voters to support him in the upcoming election.
