(COLDWATER) - Property owners in the City of Coldwater are receiving their 2026 Notice of Assessment and Tax Valuations this week.

The notices establish the basis for upcoming property tax bills and include each property's state equalized value and taxable value for the year.

Michigan's inflation cap on taxable value increases is set at 2.7% for 2026.

City officials are urging residents to carefully review the statements to ensure their property classification and valuation are accurate.

Property owners who disagree with their assessment or have questions may appeal to the Board of Review, which will meet March 9, 10 and 11 to hear protests. For most residential and agricultural properties, filing an appeal with the local Board of Review is required before taking a case to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.

Residents seeking more information or assistance are encouraged to contact the City Assessor's Office within the Neighborhood Services Department at 517-279-6964.
