(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is recruiting applicants for Indiana Conservation Officer positions across the state.

Officials with the DNR Division of Law Enforcement said they are seeking highly motivated individuals with an interest in outdoor work and public safety.

Applicants must first review information on becoming a conservation officer and complete an online pre-screening test. Successful completion of the test automatically enters candidates into the hiring process, with further steps communicated as they become available.

To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens and at least 21 years old by Oct. 30. Candidates also must pass the state's Physical Agility Test, which will become the standard fitness requirement for all law enforcement officers in Indiana beginning Aug. 1.

Indiana Conservation Officers are fully sworn law enforcement officers responsible for enforcing DNR regulations as well as state laws. Their duties include patrolling waterways, enforcing hunting and fishing regulations and providing public safety services on state-owned properties.

Officers may also serve in specialized roles such as search and rescue, scuba operations, K-9 units and swift water rescue.

Additional information about the application process is available at dnr.IN.gov.
