(ELKHART) - Two 21-year-old twins from Elkhart are facing multiple felony charges after police seized firearms and drugs during the execution of a search warrant at an apartment over the weekend.

According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers served a search warrant at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 2500 block of Links Drive. During the search, officers recovered several handguns, an AR-style pistol, and a Draco firearm.

Police said two of the seized Glock handguns were equipped with switches capable of converting the semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic firearms. Such devices meet the legal definition of machine guns under state and federal law.

Officers also seized approximately 129 grams of marijuana, THC products, and drug paraphernalia from the apartment.

The suspects were identified as twins Joedward Bynum Jr. and Jalen D. Bynum, both 21. The Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office formally filed charges against both men on Jan. 28, 2026.

Joedward Bynum Jr. is charged with two counts of possession of a machine gun, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Jalen D. Bynum faces two counts of possession of a machine gun, neglect of a dependent, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

The case remains pending in Elkhart County court.
