(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana seniors who qualify for the state's Tax Credit for the Elderly will soon have a faster, easier way to claim their refund.
Beginning in 2026, eligible Hoosiers will be able to file Form SC-40 online through the Indiana Department of Revenue's INTIME system. The change allows seniors who do not otherwise need to file an income tax return to claim the credit electronically instead of submitting paper forms.
The Tax Credit for the Elderly provides up to $100 for individuals or up to $140 for married couples. To qualify, applicants must be at least 65 years old by the end of the year, have taxable income under $10,000 and have lived in Indiana for at least six months during the year.
State officials say filing online will speed up processing times, especially for those who choose direct deposit rather than waiting for a mailed check. Seniors can access Form SC-40 on the INTIME website by visiting intime.dor.in.gov and selecting the "Where's My Refund" panel.
The deadline to submit Form SC-40 for the 2025 tax year is April 15, 2026.
