(ALBION) – A former West Noble Middle School teacher has been sentenced.
Noble County Circuit Court officials say that 58 year old Greg Riegsecker of Ligonier, was given a sentence of three years in prison and three years of probation. He entered into a plea agreement with the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office in June to charges of child pornography and exploitation. The other charges were dismissed.
With Indiana’s good trim credit, it’s projected that Riegsecker will serve approximately 27 months, or 75% of his prison sentence.
Riegsecker was charged in August 2024 with three counts of child pornography. At the time, Indiana State Police said their investigation did not lead them to believe that any local children were involved in the alleged crimes.
Following further investigation, two additional counts of child exploitation and one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors were filed against him in a separate case. An Indiana State Police Detective allegedly located over 2,600 files of child sexual abuse material between Riegsecker’s four phones.
Police were able to locate and speak to a minor in New York whom Riegsecker allegedly communicated inappropriately with. The girl told police when she was 14 or 15 years old she started talking with someone named “Matt” on Instagram. The girl said this person claimed to be 17 years old and exchanged nude photos with her, which is how police located her.
