(ANGOLA) - The Angola City Council approved a six year tax abatement on Monday night for Quality Trailer Products which is doing business as Rockwell American at 1304 Wohlert Street. The company is adding $300,000 of new manufacturing equipment at the facility. Senior project manager Cecil Fugate said they plan to hire five additional workers immediately as they will turn the building into a facility which will manufacture trailer and R.V. fenders.
Rockwell American leased the 22,000 square foot facility in Angola in 2008 as they established a Midwest sales and distribution point. The impact of the Great Recession slowed plans for production.
With the expansion, the company plans to create up to 16 new jobs in Angola by 2017. There are currently five employees in the Angola building.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Rockwell-American up to $60,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $40,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans.
The Steuben County Economic Development Corporation also assisted the company with the tax abatement request.
Northeast Indiana Works has also committed to provide Rockwell American recruitment, screening and training assistance as they expand their workforce.
