(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana's unemployment rate stayed at 5.9 percent in July as there was a large increase in the labor force. Indiana Workforce Development released the statewide numbers on Monday. The county-by-county unemployment figures for July will be released on Tuesday.
They say Indiana gained 9,900 private sector jobs in July with gains largely concentrated in the manufacturing sector.
Workforce Development says Indiana's labor force has grown by more than 54,000 over the past year.
Commissioner Scott Sanders says initial claims and continued claims for unemployment insurance benefits remain at levels not seen since 2000.
