(PLEASANT LAKE) - The cause of a house fire north of Pleasant Lake which broke out on Friday afternoon is being investigated by the Angola Fire Department and the Steuben County Sheriff's Department. Angola Fire Department Public Information Officer T.R. Hagerty says the blaze at the Bruce and Evie Adams residence at 3005 South 150 West broke out just before 4:00pm.
A Steuben County Sheriff's Department deputy was first on the scene and reported fire and heavy smoke coming from the residence. The first firefighters to arrive found heavy smoke and fire throughout the interior of the residence. The fire was called under control 13 minutes after the first fire units arrived. Crews were on the scene for almost three-and-a-half hours.
Hagerty says because of the amount of fire and smoke damage, the dollar loss is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.
Angola assisted Pleasant Lake firefighters. Ashley, Hudson and Hamilton also went to the scene while Fremont firefighters stood by at the Angola station.
Also assisting were Steuben County E.M.S., the Steuben County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and Steuben County R.E.M.C..
