Purdue Fort Wayne Bringing Suicide Awareness To Forefront

Suicide prevention is a common concern across the nation and one area university is looking to make major strides in the effort to bringing increased awareness to the issue. Purdue University Fort Wayne announced it received a $130,000 state contract to further boost Indiana's suicide prevention and intervention initiatives.

The Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute at PFW will oversee the efforts to develop training, presentations and events to boost mental health awareness. PFW will be working in partnership with the Indiana Suicide Prevention Coalition.

In 2018 alone, over 1,000 Hoosiers died by suicide.
