Wednesday, December 12, 2018

An area man will likely be spending several additional years in prison.

Court reports indicate that Elgin A. Sponhower, age 37, was already serving a DeKalb County sentence at Westville Correctional Facility when he was sentenced Monday afternoon by Judge Allen Wheat in Steuben Circuit Court.

Sponhower received 2 ½ years for his admission to auto theft and another six years for burglary, to be served consecutively to each other and to the DeKalb County term.

Sponhower's last known to be a resident of Auburn; however, his last known area of residents is not known prior to being in jail.

Sponhower has been convicted of 11 felonies and six misdemeanors, has had his probation revoked three times, and has been removed from community corrections twice. Sponhower was sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison in April 2017 in DeKalb County for burglary
