Lucy Cook Named 2021 LaGrange County Corn School Queen

(LAGRANGE) – A two day competition between eight young ladies came to an end Thursday night.
After COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 Corn School Queen Pageant, the contest was back for 2021, and selected as the new Queen by a panel of judges is Lucy Cook.
Cook is a senior at Lakeland High School who was competing in the pageant for the first time. Each contestant had to perform a talent along with answer a question for the judges. Cook read an original poem she wrote about Haiti, and says that was the most difficult part of the contest for her.....(10082021 COOK #1 :05 “that night”).
Cook says she hopes other girls would consider being in the Pageant if they can......(10082021 COOK #2 :09 “this out”).
For being selected the 2021 Corn School Queen, Cook receives a $1,000 scholarship. She also won the Virginia Hart-Schwin Award, which is given to the contestant who had done the most community service. The award is named after a former member of Tri Kappa, Mu Chapter, who sponsor the event.
First Runner Up was Lillian Eash, a senior at Westview High School. Eash was also named the 2021 winner of the Miss Congeniality Award.
