Bronson City Council Approves 2021-22 Budget

BRONSON – The City of Bronson has their budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Monday night, the Bronson City Council approved the budget. Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman shared with the Council that the budget has a projected deficit of just over $286,000. That was due to uncertainty over ACT 51 road funds and state revenue sharing, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council also passed a resolution which would amend the 2021 fiscal year budget. According to Mersman, they are anticipating revenues to exceed expenses in the General Fund by a good amount. That's due in part to Bronson getting larger than expected revenues from Michigan's Personal Property Tax Reimbursement Programs. Plus, Bronson is also getting COVID-19 funds from various grants. This was the first time that the Bronson City Council meet in their regular chambers since March 2020.
