Council Approves Lomont Holdings
By: Colin Meadowcroft - Tuesday, May 4, 2021

The Angola Common Council heard from a local business on Monday night about their ongoing search for skilled workers during the pandemic.

The Angola Common Council determined Lomont Holdings Co Incorporated to be in substantial compliance with the statement of benefits for personal property. At the beginning of the pandemic the company continued paying its employees wages for two weeks while the business was shut down and many of its employees opted to be laid off rather than come back to work due to safety concerns. Lomont Holdings, like many companies in the area, are having trouble finding workers to fill many open positions to fulfill loyal customer requests. Council also approved the sale of a Police Department 2012 Ram 1500 pickup on GovDeals.com and gave approval to City Engineer Amanda Cope to look into a request from the lighting committee for the addition of a light at the intersection of North Gerald Lett Avenue and Westwood Drive.

The Council also passed a resolution to designate May 9-15 as Economic Development Week to promote the need for economic development in the area.
