More COVID-19 Cases Found In Michigan Over The Weekend

More cases of COVID-19 were detected in Michigan over the weekend.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is reporting that
there are 10 cases of COVID-19 in St. Joseph County. There was no increase from Saturday's numbers to those released on Sunday. Branch County saw an increase of 3 cases from Saturday to Sunday, which brings the total number to 13. There has also been one death in the County, which was reported Saturday. In addition, five more prisoners at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total to 30 in the prison.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says there are now 227 COVID-19
cases at their nine facilities. The first death was also reported of a prisoner at the Parnall Correctional Facility near Jackson.

Cass County has 7 cases of coronavirus along with 1 fatality. Hillsdale County saw 7 new cases which brings the total in the county to 44 and 3 deaths. Calhoun County has 42 cases of COVID-19 with one death and Kalamazoo County has 53 cases with 1 death.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the statewide
number of COVID-19 cases increased by 1,493 from Saturday to Sunday, bringing the overall total to 15,718. The number of deaths went up by 77 to 617 in Michigan.

The CHA reminds everyone to continue practicing social distancing as a way to help slow down the spread of COVID-19. Also, please wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water; and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.
