Flood Warnings Already Issued As Persistent Rain Expected Through Today
Friday, January 10, 2020

As rain will fall for much of the day today, heavier in some places than others, the National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for a long list of rivers in its coverage area.

They include the North Branch of the Elkhart River as Cosperville in Noble County...the Elkhart River at Goshen...Saint Joseph River at Three Rivers, Elkhart and South Bend...and the Saint Joseph River at Newville in DeKalb County and in Fort Wayne.

Rises on area rivers are expected to occur as a result of forecast rainfall. Timing and crest heights are still subject to change over the coming days. Confidence remains high that we could see 3 to 5 inches of rain over the next day or so.

Road travelers are reminded to never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters.

The heavy rains are expected to taper off early Sunday.
