2019’s LaGrange County Citizen of the Year was honored last night for spearheading the effort to make sure every veteran’s grave is marked with dignity and honor.

Jean Fremion-McKibben was emotional in accepting the award last night.

To date, Fremion-McKibben and her team have replaced over 200 headstones and identified many more yet to be completed.

They’ve also taken on the job of repairing or replacing over 200 worn and broken flagholders throughout the county’s cemeteries.
