Hilderly Taking Tecumseh Superintendent's Job
Monday, September 30, 2019

Bronson Superintendent Rick Hilderly is returning to his educational roots.

In a letter to the Bronson Community, Hilderly announced that he was offered
the Superintendent's position with the Tecumseh School District on Friday, and he has accepted the job.

Before coming to Bronson, Hilderly was a teacher in the Tecumseh Elementary and Middle Schools from 1990 to 1998. He then served as an Elementary School Principal and then the Middle School Principal from 1998 to 2005.

Tecumseh School officials say Hilderly and Wayne Roedel, the Superintendent of Fowlerville Schools, were the two finalists for their Superintendent job. However on Friday, Roedel notified the Tecumseh School Board he was withdrawing his candidacy, preferring not to put his current district through the rigors of a site visit.

Hilderly was hired to be the Bronson Superintendent in 2017. He took over for
Teresa Belote, who was hired to be the Superintendent of the St. Joseph County
Intermediate School District.

In his letter, Hilderly says that even though he was the Bronson Superintendent
for only 27 months, it is as difficult to leave as if it had been 27 years. He says his work in the Bronson School District provided many relationships that have grown into lifelong friendships. Hilderly says his time in Bronson has been an enriching experience and he is grateful for the time he was able to serve the Bronson Community Schools.

Hilderly says he will work with the Bronson Board of Education and the Tecumseh School Board to set a timeline for his departure which will likely occur.
