Strike Among UAW GM Workers Enters Day Three
Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Day number three of the strike by United Auto Workers against General Motors is officially underway and the disgruntled workers, including the 3,900 workers at the Fort Wayne GM Assembly Plant, are speaking publicly of what they are standing for.

The 49,000 members of the UAW nationwide went on strike at 12 A.M. Monday, and the union says they want a better share of the company’s profits, protection of health benefits, and a path for full-time status for temp workers.

Negotiations between executives at General Motors and the United Auto Workers are still in progress. In the meantime, General Motors has stopped paying for striking workers’ health insurance, according to a statement the company issued to the Detroit Free Press.
